David Milne Wirth, born April 12th 1944 and died February 17th 2019 at the age of 74.

Son of LeRoy Wirth and Jeanette Wirth, David was born in Mount Vernon NY and raised in Pelham NY along with his twin sister Linda Karon and older sister Janet LoStrocco. He married Nancy Graham Wirth on March 27th 1971 and has two children Matthew Wirth (Melissa) and Sarah Wirth Wexler (Peter) and three grandchildren Maxx Lanphear, Jack Wexler, Ava Wexler.

David grew up summering on Montauk, Long Island. He enjoyed many a weekend on his 1962 wooden Thompson boat cruising out to Gull Island and beaching it with his family and friends. He was a lover of all things nautical and was very proud to call his son a Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer.

David was an accomplished Eagle Scout and an experienced auto mechanic. He graduated from NYU with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1966 and began his career working for Nordans Technology designing submarines. He transitioned to designing and building printing presses and ended his career working for Dauphin Graphics in Harrisburg, PA.

His other love was soccer. He attended more games for his children and grandchildren then humanly possible. His favorite team was Manchester United and every Saturday and Sunday morning you could find him watching an English Premier League game or three on the television.

He was loved by many, especially his family and will be missed more than words can say. His services were held on Saturday, February 23rd at The Catholic Church of the Visitation in Topping, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Church of the Visitation Building Fund, P.O. Box 38, Topping, VA 23169 or Middlesex Pet Friends for Life, P.O. Box 145, Saluda, VA 23149. Arrangements by Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda.

Dear Nancy and Family,

So sad to hear of Dave’s passing.

Candy and I knew Dave to be a special person, a one of a kind. He was there to lend a helping hand no matter what it may have been. I remember well, following our careers at Norden in Norwalk, he assisted me in finding my next job at Baldwin, where we worked together for many years. I’ll never forget Dave’s effort, throwing me a life line when I needed it most.

Meeting in ’68, how can we not forget all the wonderful times we shared? Our engineering careers, the Norwalk Mansion, Valenti’s, Porky Manero’s, Mario’s, and of course Montauk summers and his beautiful Thompson Lapstrake boat. Dave also introduced us to the “Perfect Manhattan” and the “Martuni”, great fun!

Nancy, we will always remember you and Dave as a great couple and we share many memories of times together, what laughs we had. And after we moved to CA, it was great to see Dave, you and Matt in ’02 at our home, near to where Matt was stationed in San Francisco. And of course, Sarah’s wedding in Saratoga in ’03.

Having known Dave, we feel sad at his loss too. We are thinking of you.

Needless to say, if travels bring you West again, please visit us in Napa. We are always here for you.
