Obituary for Dr. Harriet Libby Roane
Dr. Harriet Libby Roane, 78, of Gloucester, Virginia. She went to heaven on Friday, October 23, 2020. Harriet was born in Summit, New Jersey on Feb. 15, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Walter S. Libby, Jr. and late Kathryn G. Libby. She lived in Urbanna, Virginia and graduated from Middlesex High School in 1960. She also got several college degrees over the years. She was a devoted loving wife to Howard for 60 years and had three daughters.
Throughout Harriet’s life she loved talking and helping people. She was a member of Urbanna Baptist Church. She was a profound Christian and recently graduated with a Certificate of Ordination of Theology and a Doctor of Ministry and Biblical Counseling. She was an Associate pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church for a few years. Before that she was a Nurse Aid for many years. She enjoyed singing, painting portraits and landscapes as a hobby.
She is survived by her husband Howard W. Roane. She is also survived by her daughter Deborah R. Epperley and son-in-law Michael A. Epperley of Smithfield, daughter Daphne Melvin and son-in-law David Melvin of Gloucester, daughter Karen W. Roane of Gloucester, brother Walter S. Libby III and sister-in-law Elizabeth Libby of Williamsburg, and five grandchildren, and seven grand-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at Urbanna Baptist Church on Friday October 30 at 11:00 A.M.
