Obituary for Emily Amelia Allen
Emily Amelia Allen, 93, of Chance, Virginia passed away on January 31, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a very active member of Upper Essex Baptist Church and was a deacon for numerous years. She had a very successful 34 year career with the federal government. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, reading, and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Randolph Allen; parents, Barney and Emilie; and brothers, Woodrow, Walter, and BD Wessells.
Emily is survived by her four children, William “Randy” Allen, Patricia Smith (Douglas), Jeanne Babcock (Christopher), Leslie Ann Allen; nephew, Wayne Wessells (Judy), six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Upper Essex Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Upper Essex Baptist Church, P.O. Box 225, Caret, VA 22436.
