Obituary for George Gaylord "G.G." Belfield III

George Gaylord “G.G.” Belfield III, age 47, from Tappahannock, passed peacefully in his sleep on December 27th, 2022. He was born on October 11, 1975 to George Gaylord (Gayle) Belfield JR and Peggy Lee Shaw.

GG was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dorothy Jean and George Gaylord Belfield SR, maternal grandparents, Eddie Thomas and Mary Louise Lee, and his step father, Henry Shaw.

GG was survived by his parents, Peggy and Gayle; his daughter, Gia, who was the light of his world; his brother, Eric (Amber); half brother, Robbie(Brooke); nephews, Ryan and Kam; niece, Ivy; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. G loved his family especially his sweet Gia.

G was born and raised in Richmond County. He attended Rappahannock High School then went onto attend Louisburg college, transferred to Ferrum, and continued his education at Christopher Newport University all while living out his baseball dreams. G broke many records along his way. His happiest times took place on the ball field throughout his high school and college years. G could do anything he set his mind to in the work field and went on to do just about everything from taking over his grandfather’s business exterminating, to working at Dixie Electric, to selling insurance, to car salesman, worked for Northrup Grumman, and then went to helping who he called his “big brother”, Mike Slaw (Buck Slaw as G would say) as a tile contractor. GG also loved cooking as much as he loved eating and had a great time running GG’s Doghouse.

GG brightened up any room, put smiles on so many faces, and brought about so much love and laughter. He was brave, boisterous, stubborn, comical, and compassionate. His stories will live on forever.

A celebration of life service for GG will be held at Callao Moose Lodge on January 7, 2023 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be taken in the form of donations to the Gia Belfield fund at Atlantic Union Bank.
