Jacqueline “Monie” Richardson Thrift, 91, of Urbanna passed away peacefully on April 26, 2019. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 66 years Clyde Atwell Thrift; her parents Leigh Richardson and Marie R. Cross; sister Beverly Richardson McDaniel and husband Jeff McDaniel, her very special brother in law and her loving dog Diva. Jackie, lovingly called “Monie” by her family is survived by her daughter Patrice Thrift Wake and husband Chappy; granddaughter Tyler Wake Daniel, husband Emory; great grandson Parker Hayes Daniel and longtime friend Lillie Braxton.

“Monie” was a gentle lady who loved her family and friends dearly. She took great pride in the home that she and Clyde built together 43 years ago. She found great pleasure working two part time jobs at Cyndy’s Bynn and Papeterie where she was surrounded by people she enjoyed spending time with. She had a passion for arranging flowers, making wreaths and creating beautiful bows. Her greatest pleasure was creating a lovely Thanksgiving altar for her church and working with her special friend Barbara to get every detail perfect.

The family would like to express special gratitude to Ann Lockley, Antionette Nelson, Marilyn Briggs, Melissa Hall, Sharmaine Briggs and Dr. and Mrs. Ronald Haggerty and staff for the love, care and support shown to our family for many years. To Sanders Retirement Village and the staff at Heron Cove we say thank you for giving “Monie” so much love and joy in her final days.

Jackie was a member of Urbanna United Methodist Church where a memorial service will be held Saturday May 11, at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Urbanna United Methodist Church Prayer Garden, P.O. box 217, Urbanna, Va. 23175
