Kathy Shackelford Thrift, age 68 of Hartfield Virginia, passed away on May 1, 2022. She was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church where she was the organist for over 50 years. She was also a former member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Upper Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department in Water View. Kathy served the citizens of Middlesex County for over 20 years, culminating with her service as the County Treasurer for the last 3 years. Previously she was employed with Chesapeake Corporation in West Point and Urbanna Auto and Marine.

Kathy’s hobbies included quilting, painting, crafting, music, shopping, singing, playing piano, and spending time with her family, including watching her grandson Landon play sports.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Robert E. and Vivian M. Shackelford. She is survived by her husband, William C. Thrift; daughter, Sherry T. Williams and her husband Wesley; and grandson, Landon Hayes Williams.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel in Saluda. A service to celebrate Kathy’s life will be held at 11 AM Thursday, May 5, 2022 in Hermitage Baptist Church, 94 Ware’s Bridge Rd. in Church View, Virginia with interment following in the Church Cemetery.
