Obituary for Linda Elizabeth Lumpkin

Linda Elizabeth Lumpkin, a lifetime resident of Tappahannock, VA passed away on June 22, 2019 peacefully at her home in the presence of her loving “pup” daughter, Jack and her dear friend Sylvia. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Robert H. “Dick” Lumpkin and Lillian Covington Lumpkin, her sister, Carolyn Lumpkin and her very special grandfather, James Benjamin “Ben” Covington. She is survived by her longtime companion, travel buddy and beloved pup daughter “Jack”, the love of her life.

Linda was a servant of Essex County, VA rising to the position of Deputy County Administrator, before retiring after over forty (40) years of dedicated service. She served on many county and state related Boards as a volunteer, including Goodwill Industries, SPCA, Red Cross and the VA State Association of Counties. She also volunteered at the Essex County Historical Society Museum and volunteered throughout her life for many other non-profit organizations. She was a true Ambassador of Essex County, which she loved and cherished. She was always working to improve the economic base and standard of living for the citizens of the county. She felt she was blessed to serve the people of Essex County and tried to do so with the utmost integrity and honesty. She wanted to thank so many people who contributed to her life, who mentored her and supported her during her wonderful life. She knew she had been “blessed” with a life other people only envied and was very thankful for all the people she loved and loved her back. She had very few regrets and lived life to the fullest.
