Matt was a dear friend in my early years as an educator. He was kind, cheerful, self-assured, and independent. I was always inspired by his intellect. He loved his friends and relished their support. I liked him because he didn't compromise himself for others. His strength and uniqueness a great model for others. I will miss you, Dear Brother.

Matt was my teacher in 7th grade, around 1975. I remember him telling me his favorite song was " If I Had A Hammer". He was a nice, caring and compassionate man who made an impact on his students. I hope he knew that. He will be missed. My condolences to his family and loved ones.
