Obituary for Maurice Anderson King Jr.
Maurice “Maury” King, Jr., 89 of Mathews, VA, formerly of Richmond, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Hjordis King and his brother John. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, June Atherton King who was the love of his life along with their four children Monica Seay, Mike King (Dana), Kathy Lauver, Beth Downer (Geoff); and eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren to whom he was known as PaPa.
Maury was a 1951 chemistry graduate of VMI and a U. S. Army veteran. He retired as a sales engineer for AES Engineered Systems. Maury was a member of The American Legion Post 83 and of Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia, on Wednesday, March 6th from 5-7 p.m. Graveside services with military honors will be held at H. C. Smither Memorial Cemetery in Hudgins, VA on Thursday, March 7th at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow at Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church in Cobbs Creek, VA.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Maury to the Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 125, Cobbs Creek, VA 23035.
