Obituary for Pamela Sue Hudson (Knopp)

Pamela Sue Hudson (nee Knopp), 57, of Mathews, Virginia passed away on Friday October 4th 2019. She was born to the late Chester D. Knopp and Patricia A. Knopp, also of Mathews Virginia. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and a dedicated nurse with Riverside Walter Reed Hospice.

Pamela attended Mid-Michigan Community College where she studied to become a registered nurse. After graduation she went on to various positions over her 25 year nursing career. Most recently, she worked for Riverside Walter Reed as an RN case manager.

Despite the demands of a nursing career, family and friends were Pam’s passion. Being in nature, gardening, reading and hiking were some of Pam’s favorite past times. She hiked a section of the Appalachian Trail and had a love for adventure and storytelling. She rarely met a stranger. Once you met Pam, you were family. She took on the role of “Neighborhood Mom” to many of her children and grandchildren’s friends and schoolmates.

She was preceded in death by her father Chester Darryl Knopp and her brother Chester Darryl Knopp II. She is survived by her son, Michael Thomas; daughter, Melinda Thomas; brother, Richard Knopp; and mother, Patricia Knopp. She has 6 wonderful grandchildren; Braydon, Aubrie, Tristan, Isabella, Keira, and Lilly who know her simply as Nana.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 8th from 10-11am at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews Virginia with a funeral service at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, Virginia.
