I had the distinct pleasure of working closely with Patty while she was the Director of the Chesapeake Bay Governor's School (CBGS). She was the driving force in establishing and/or maintaining many of the features of the CBGS that made it one of the best and most respected Governor's Schools in the state of Virginia. Her legacy will forever remain in the lives and academics of the students she touched and those who will be touched by her students in the future.

To the Griffin Family,
May the Lord wrap you in his loving arms during this difficult time. My fond
memories of Patty are in King and Queen County, where we worked next door
to each other for several years. Other times are at Christ Church and basketball
games there.
Yours in Christ,
Etta Amis

I met Patty a couple of years ago at the National Association for Gifted CHildren conference in Orlando, Florida. I was eating lunch by myself in a cafeteria/restaurant when she walked up to me and asked if she could join me. It was one of those moments in life that doesn't happen very often, when you immediately "hit it off" with a person who is a total stranger but feels like you have known her all your life. That's the way it was with Patty. She was a person of tremendous warmth and intelligence, with a wonderful sense of humor and an inquiring mind, always ready to learn about or experience the next new thing. She spoke to me often of her family and especially her grandchildren, whom she loved very much. I will cherish the times we did spend together as friends, as I'm sure everyone who knew this generous, loving woman will also cherish the many moments of friendship and love they shared with her. -Magdalena Fitzsimmons, Baltimore, Maryland
