Obituary for Richard Shore
Richard G. Shore, 80, of Hartfield passed away on September 25, 2022. Richard was born in Queens, NY to the late Harry & Catherine Shore. He graduated from Seaford High School, Seaford, NY.
He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years Barbara Shore; son Richard M. Shore of Kilmarnock, daughter Lisa Shore (Steve Difazio) of CA; grandchildren Ashley Lewis Horne (Brandon) of FL, Christopher Lewis (Julia) of CA, and Roger Runyon of VA; great grandchildren Mackenzie, Kirra, Kambrie, Roger, Gabriel and Autumn; step great grandchildren Caleb, Dylan and Aria; sister Julia Ranieri of FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Richard was retired SFC in the Army. He earned the Purple Heart & Bronze Star in Vietnam. He retired from Fort Eustis in 1981 after 20 years service. He worked at Virginia Power Surry Nuclear Power Plant as a mechanic for 22 years and was also an EMT for 9 of these years. After retiring he joined Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad as an EMT in 2005, holding several positions on the board. He is a Life Member of the Rescue Squad.
A memorial service will be held at Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad 17684 General Puller Hwy, Deltaville, VA, October 8, 2022 at 2 PM. A celebration of life will continue after at the rescue squad.
