Shirley Jean Morris, 88, of Port Haywood, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. She was born on August 27, 1930 in Beach Grove, Indiana. Shirley loved her church family at St. Paul United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being with her many friends at the Mathews Senior Center. Shirley loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much and was known to everyone as “Nana”.

She is survived by her daughters Melanie L. Miles, Glenda Carol Traverse, and Jody Ann Dudley; sons George Michael Girdler, James Lee Girdler and Richard Todd Girdler; sisters Sharon Rudolph and Suzanne Lantz; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and her dog and best friend “Gizmo”.

The family received friends at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Susan, Virginia on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 12:30- 2:00 pm. A Funeral Service was held at 2:00 pm at the church, interment followed at St. Paul Annex.

Shirley’s family would like to thank all of their church family for their assistance over the last year. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church and to the Bay Aging, Mathews Senior Center. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia is assisting the family with the arrangements.
